1. Introduction

Afras Trading and Contracting Company is a trusted and experienced waste management service provider operating within NEOM. Under the leadership of Muhammad Zeeshan, our operations manager, we manage all aspects of waste transportation, treatment, and disposal, focusing on both hazardous and non-hazardous waste. Our comprehensive approach ensures full compliance with NEOM’s sustainability and environmental standards.

2. Scope of Operations

Our waste management services cover a wide range of waste types, including:

  • Non-hazardous waste (Solid and Liquid)
  • Hazardous Waste (Solid and Liquid)
  • Cleaning of sewage sludge holding tanks in confined spaces

Each waste type is handled, transported, and disposed of in compliance with NEOM’s environmental regulations and sustainability goals.

3. Responsibilities

  • Operations Manager (Muhammad Zeeshan)
    Responsible for overseeing all aspects of waste management operations in NEOM, ensuring compliance, safety, and environmental responsibility.
  • Waste Transport Team
    Conducts the collection, transportation, and disposal of waste in compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Partner Facilities
    We collaborate with trusted third-party facilities for hazardous waste management and medical waste treatment, ensuring compliance with NEOM’s strict regulatory requirements.

4. Waste Categories and Procedures

4.1 Non-Hazardous Waste

  • Types: General waste, food waste, sewage waste, recyclable materials, etc.
  • Disposal: Non-hazardous waste is disposed of at NEOM-approved landfills and treatment facilities.
  • Containers: We provide a variety of skip containers in different sizes for collection and transportation.
  • Food Waste: Handled using compactors, and all food waste is disposed of at Al Bada NEOM-approved landfill.
  • Sewage Waste: Disposed of at the nearest approved Sewage Treatment Plant (STP).

4.2 Hazardous Waste

  • Types: Includes waste classified as hazardous due to its chemical, physical, or biological properties.
  • Disposal: All hazardous waste is transported to the Rabigh Treatment Facility, which is equipped to handle hazardous materials following NEOM regulations.
  • PartnerGulf of Elite, a third-party provider with NCEC permits, manages the treatment and disposal of hazardous waste at their licensed facility.

4.3 Specialized Services

  • Water Supply: We provide water for portable toilets, portable tanks, and cleaning services within NEOM.
  • Sewage Sludge Holding Tank Cleaning: We offer specialized manual cleaning services for sewage sludge holding tanks, ensuring compliance with environmental standards.

5. Waste Management Procedures

5.1 Pre-Transport Procedures

  • Waste Segregation: Waste is segregated into appropriate categories (hazardous/non-hazardous, solid/liquid).
  • Documentation: Necessary documentation, including waste manifests, is prepared and verified to ensure traceability and compliance.
  • Equipment: Ensure the use of appropriately certified containers for hazardous waste, compactors for food waste, and vehicles equipped with spill containment systems.

5.2 Transport Procedures

  • Vehicle Inspection: Vehicles are inspected before each trip to ensure they meet safety and environmental requirements.
  • Waste Monitoring: The waste load is monitored during transportation to ensure no leakage or contamination occurs.
  • Communication: Vehicles are equipped with communication devices to report issues, changes, or emergencies immediately.

5.3 Disposal Procedures

  • Non-hazardous waste: delivered to NEOM-approved landfills.
  • Hazardous Waste: Delivered to the Rabigh Treatment Facility for processing in line with regulatory standards.
  • Water Supply: transported and supplied to designated areas.
  • Sewage Sludge Cleaning: Completed manually, following environmental best practices.

6. Emergency Procedures

In the event of an accident, spill, or other emergencies:

  • Spill Management: immediate containment using spill kits, followed by reporting to NEOM and the appropriate regulatory authorities.
  • Hazardous Waste Incidents: Follow specific protocols to ensure the safe containment and treatment of hazardous waste in case of accidents.

7. Team Training and Qualifications

All team members are fully trained to handle waste safely and efficiently. Our training programs cover:

  • Waste Classification and Segregation
  • Transportation Safety and Emergency Procedures
